The Pioneers of Canada ......................................................................................Return to Homepage

I love to hear the pioneers Tell of days of days of yore And why they left their native land To seek a foreign shore. |
The pioneers, for many years Had hardships to go through, As great as Wellington, That won his fame at Waterloo. |
|
To face the breeze and forest trees That did in profusion grow, Here they built their cabin homes Some sixty years ago. |
Where could you read of greater deeds, Than pioneers could show, When clearing up this wilderness Here sixty years ago. |
|
O what a debt of gratitude, We owe the pioneers, Then treat them friends, with due respect In their declining years. |
If Mountains, Lakes and Rivers, Are beautiful to view, Here every day Niagara's spray Falls like the morning dew. |
|
For most of them have gone to rest As early records show. They tried to make a home for us Here sixty years ago. |
Its fertile fields abundance yields, Its scenery is grand, No wonder that Canadian boys Do love their native land. |
