Newell’s Hotel

In 1924, Newell’s Hotel was included on a sign near the Port Stanton train station listing hotels on the lake. It was built by Otto Roehl’s stepson Walter Newell, but burned to the ground soon after construction. The remnants of the foundation can still be seen to the west of Maple Grove toward Deep Bay near Sunset Rock.
